Gathering To Save Our Democracy is a nonpartisan, statewide grassroots organization that supports free, fair and verifiable elections; and insuring the integrity of our elections.

Why have we come to Memphis to join you at the TN Election Officials annual seminar?

1) To Thank You For Your Service: We believe that Tennessee’s county election commissions are the most important single people who are protecting our votes and maintaining our democracy. And we believe that county election administrators and their staffs perform the single most important function in our government – to achieve the orderly transfer of the power granted by the “consent of the governed”, by the American people to our elected leaders. We want to thank you for your service and for your hard work – in the past and in the future.

2) To Learn With You: We look forward to learning more about how our voting systems are changing and what sensible options exist for improving them AND maintaining security, accountability and trust in our election process.

3) To Encourage You To Protect Our Votes – In the decisions that will be made in many Tennessee counties in the coming months regarding changes in your voting systems, we encourage you to select voting systems that use or produce a voter-verified paper ballot or record. We must have a permanent record of the voters’ intent that can be audited or recounted if necessary to insure the integrity of the election process. Fortunately, every voting system now being considered in Tennessee either starts with a paper ballot or can produce a voter-verified paper record. We support voting systems that provide a “paper trail”, not a “vapor trail”.

4) To Start a Dialogue with You – We have already mailed some materials about verified voting and our other concerns to your county election offices. In the coming days, we would be happy to provide any information that you and others in your county might need to make a fully informed decision about the future of voting systems in your county. We would be happy to assist you in any way as you make this critically important decision to protect our votes and preserve our democracy.
