Testimony before the Board of Elections, November 21, 2006

I am here to urge you to select paper ballots and optical scanners.

I believe that it will be impossible to protect the security of electronic ballots; no one can see them inside the computer.

If we cannot protect paper ballots which we can see, I don’t believe we can protect electronic ballots which we cannot see.

The security weaknesses of electronic voting machines weaken our government, because people think that our leaders might not have been elected fairly.

As a senior citizen I am not computer literate.  Most seniors vote and the majority are not familiar with computers.  Please select paper ballots with optical scanners.

            Respectfully submitted,

Phyllis Salome
